Czech puppets/marionettes

Here is a picture of some Czech puppets from the exhibit in Cedar Rapids this summer. These are carved of wood and have fabric attached. Fabric has been attached directly to the faces to form lips and sometimes noses and other items. Other puppets/marionettes on exhibit are much older than these which were made in the 20th century. They are on loan from a puppet museum in the Czech Republic.

Puppets

This is a window box in Germany, at Christmas time, with puppet heads perched amid the greenery. We spent a lovely three years in Europe and enjoyed the Christmas markets each year. This weekend we went to the Czech museum in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and enjoyed the puppet exhibit.

Exploring the web

One of my favorite things to do is to explore the web. Starting out on one blog for instance and finding another thru the links. I tried http://www.ihanne.wordpress.com/ and then found http://www.mollychicken.blogs.com/ which has some cute patterns for a felt chick and hen, as well as doll clothing and baby booties. Very pretty cloth used--old fashioned flowers and patterns. Reminds me of my mom and grandma making toys from scraps.
